CONTRACT VALUE:
CONTRACT DURATION:
Weldon are engaged as the main contractor on a £300,000 contract to construct a concrete centrifuge within a live food manufacturing facility that operates 24/7.
Works consisted of carrying out demolition works to gain access to the working area, breaking out the existing concrete floor slab, excavating to 1.0m deep, boring out for and installing 8nr reinforced concrete piles to a depth of 10.0m, concreting the base slab 5.0m x 5.0m square 1.0m deep, construction 4nr columns 600mm square 2.0m high and then constructing on top of the columns a reinforced concrete slab 700mm thick with a further 4 nr reinforced concrete columns 600mm square to a height of 4.0m and then constructing a final reinforce concrete slab of 1.0m thick.
Two hundred tons of concrete were pumped into the structure as there was no vehicle access, all materials used for the works were taken in and out by hand, around 100t!
Works have all been carried out in a live working environment of which the clients business is food production, this added many safety issues to that of which Weldon had to comply with as part of the work requirements.
Works were carried out within budget, to program and to the satisfaction of the client; Weldon is currently carrying out further works today on site.
