PROJECT: Kettering Market Place
CLIENT: Kettering Borough Council
CONTRACT VALUE: £1.05m
CONTRACT DURATION: 7 Months
Kettering Borough Council, as part of their Area Action Plan for the town, have developed a vision for the regeneration of the historic town centre. The first phase of this is the remodelling of the old market square. The project is to completely remodel the public realm to provide the setting for what will be the restaurant quarter and to revitalise it’s use as a market. A market has been in this location since before 1227 when the Market Charter was granted by Henry III. This is one of the facts highlighted by the ‘Time Line’ installed as part of the project.
Creation of an amphitheatre in natural stone
Construction of stone faced reinforced concrete retaining walls
Tree planting
Lighting
Installation of a Kettering ‘Time Line’
Water feature
Services for market stalls
Decorative canopies
The square is a busy shopping area and we have managed to maintain access to all premises during the works. We have worked with the shopkeepers to ensure that inconvenience is kept to the absolute minimum and that they can carry on their business as usual.
This project has allowed us to showcase our skills and expertise in dealing with complex, high quality and highly labour intensive hard landscaping while at the same time managing a major public interface.
