PROJECT: Aston Clinton HWRC
CLIENT: Buckinghamshire County Council
CONTRACT VALUE: £1,900,000
CONTRACT DURATION: Six Months
This project involved the construction of a new Household Waste Recycling Centre and included:
Gyratory Road around the facility (providing half a mile of on-site queuing to reduce the number of cars backing up onto the main road)
Link Road to and Junction with College Road North, Aston Clinton
Office and recycling shop
Vehicle barrier and weighbridge
Clean water drainage system including attenuation lagoon and interceptor
Foul Water system including pumped main to Severn Trent connection the other side of A41 by-pass.
Lighting and other services
The environment around the site has also been well considered as it is one of only a few locations where the rare Black Poplar Tree can be found in the UK. The trees required assessment and treatment by a tree surgeon and preservation throughout the project.
Many of the ground materials used to construct the centre were recycled. Even spare space at the centre is being
utilised—the loft of the re-sale building is to be used to store archive papers.
This new facility will process around 15,000 tonnes of waste a year and will enable residents of the area to recycle a wide range of things from paper and card, through to tyres, batteries, fluorescent tubes and garden waste—the site will also accept Trade Waste.
