This landmark project involved the redevelopment of the 100 Ha derelict colliery and coke works, for a mix of rail served B1, B2, B8 and residential land uses. A new road and refurbished rail link were constructed into the site. A 21 Ha Country Park was also constructed to protect existing features of environmental value and to safeguard the open area between the site and neighbouring green belt settlements.

The business park area comprises a 300-acre site for high quality business space with rail freight facility. Substantial structural landscaping including parkland, ponds, lakes, footpaths and cycleways to link employment areas were part of the construction brief.

The work was carried out on a design and construct basis and comprised demolition of the former coke works and remediation of the site, together with the adjacent former Coventry Colliery site. The associated work included the re-modelling of Junction 3 on the M6 Motorway to increase the capacity of the junction.

Earthworks comprised a bulk cut-to fill operation involving the movement of approximately 1,000,000m 3 of material - re-grading the site to form construction plots.

A total of 14,000m of drainage was installed varying in diameter from 150mm to 1600mm at depths up to 7m.

6.4km of single carriageway road was constructed with two signal operated junctions, a dedicated "Smart" bus link and a level crossing.
